Lint is very flammable. A clean dryer dries faster and is much safer.
Safety basics
- Clean the lint filter before or after every load
- Have the vent and exhaust duct cleaned regularly
- Check the outside vent flap opens when the dryer runs
- Don't run the dryer when you leave home or go to bed
- Don't dry items stained with oil, gas or cooking oil
Signs to act
Clothes taking longer to dry, a hot dryer top or a burning smell can mean a blocked vent. Stop using the dryer and have it checked.
The U.S. Fire Administration says the leading cause of home clothes dryer fires is failure to clean them. Fresh Nest Daily isn't paid by any detergent or appliance brand.
