- Run the washer's cleaning cycle, or an empty hot cycle as the manual says
- Wipe the door gasket on front-loaders, including the folds
- Clean the detergent dispenser
- Clean the drain pump filter if your manual says to

Take clothes out promptly and leave the door or lid open afterward so the drum can dry.
